Christmas in Geelong gets sporty additions
THE Geelong community is being encouraged to don their favourite sports gear and get active this festive season with four new sports experiences being added to the City of Greater Geelong Christmas in Geelong program.
On Thursday last week, the city added surfing, golf, swimming and yoga to this year’s jam-packed schedule of events and activities, giving locals of all ages something to enjoy this holiday season.
Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan said that the sporty additions to the Christmas in Geelong program, which began on Sunday. would give the community the chance to look after their physical health and wellbeing.
“We know that our community loves getting physical and trying new things out, so council has added some new experiences to the Christmas in Geelong program this year.
“Council is proud to provide our venues and partner with local businesses to offer activities that will appeal to different age groups and help foster connection at this special time of year.
“Being the busiest time of the year, it’s important to look after our wellbeing by getting active and having fun with loved ones.
“Our sporty experiences are sure to reduce stress, put a smile on your face and maybe even spark an interest in a new hobby.”
Times and dates for the new activities include:
Christmas at Balyang Par 3, Balyang Par 3, Newtown, December 23, 1-5.30pm – Enjoy the fresh air and carols at Balyang Par 3, where the City is offering discounted entry for these special afternoon rounds of golf and a complimentary gift for participants.
Christmas by the Pool, Kardinia Aquatic Centre, Geelong and Lara Aquatic Centre, Lara, December 23 – Soak up summer with friends and family at two of the city’s fantastic outdoor pools with carols while you swim and a complimentary Christmas gift for all entrants, and
Christmas Day Morning Yoga, Wonder Yoga, 128 Ryrie Street, Geelong, December 25, 8.30am – Support your holiday wellbeing and start Christmas Day feeling at peace by participating in a special Christmas Day yoga class, hosted by Wonder Yoga.
