City lockdown
The City will temporarily close key public facilities, due to COVID19 restrictions that came into effect across Victoria at midnight.
All indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities, recreation and leisure facilities, customer service centres, Belmont Market, The Carousel, The Potato Shed, National Wool Museum, The fOrT, public halls and community hubs will be closed during the five-day state government lockdown.
In accordance with government directions, childcare centres will remain open to assist parents to work at home or in essential services outside the home.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the Victorian Government’s list of public exposure sites at the Department of Health website.
Please get tested if directed or if you have any symptoms of COVID19. Testing sites are listed on the Barwon Health website.
COVID-19 vaccinations at the Norlane community hub can be booked via the Barwon Health website.
Greater Geelong Mayor Stephanie Asher urged residents to keep safe and to get tested if they have been to any exposure sites during the relevant period.
“It is very tough to be placed in lockdown again, and once again we are feeling for the businesses and workers impacted, along with everyone who’ll be in isolation over the coming days,” Mayor Asher said.
“Greater Geelong is in a more precarious position this time given the local exposure sites, so it is especially important for everyone to be vigilant and don’t delay getting tested if you’ve been at an exposure site or you’re experiencing symptoms.
“Hopefully with another dedicated combined effort this latest outbreak will be contained quickly and the restrictions lifted.”
