Comics get outta town and head to Geelong
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival has partnered with Visit Victoria to bring an expanded program of comedy shows to metro and regional Victoriam, beginning this Friday in Geelong.
Thanks to increased support from the Victorian Government, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Outta Town will deliver the laughs to even more destinations this year.
After being stuck at home for so long, it’s the perfect opportunity for comedy fans and friends to have a regional weekend break and catch a sneak peek of what’s to come before the festival officially kicks off on March 30 in Melbourne.
The new initiative aims to bring more comedy to a wider audience and expand into a broad range of venues, boosting regional tourism, providing more shows and greater access for audiences in rural areas.
Melbourne International Comedy Festival Outta Town begins this Friday at the Geelong West Town Hall from 8.30pm with Geraldine Hickey, Nath Valvo and Brett Blake.
The show will be preceded with the RAW Comedy Geelong heat from 6pm.
Other local favourites showcase on the tour include Lizzy Hoo, Lano & Woodley, Lewis Garnham, Claire Hooper, Luka Muller, Danielle Walker, Rhys Nicholson, Lloyd Langford, Peter Jones and Dilruk Jayasinha.
As well as Geelong, shows will take place in Mildura, Swan Hill, Warrnambool, Ballarat, Hamilton, Portland, Bendigo, Wangaratta and Wodonga.
“We are excited to be partnering with Visit Victoria to deliver greatly expanded opportunities for comedy fans in the coming months,”
“The series of comedy weekends in regional Victoria will be a wonderful opportunity to bounce back and reconnect with our audiences and is a great excuse for a weekend getaway!”
