HUNDREDS of individuals, local businesses and sporting groups rallied together to fundraise for Barwon Health’s critical care departments during its Critical Care Appeal.

Last weekend’s campaign featured traditional tin shakes at popular Geelong intersections, fundraising barbecues and charity fitness classes.

Local businesses also chose to donate a portion of their sales to the appeal.

As of Wednesday this week, funds were still being calculated, however Barwon Health Foundation said they were confident a highly valued new laryngoscopic intubation video system could be purchased.

Other items on the wish-list are an ultrasound machine for theatre and electrocardiograms for multiple wards.

Barwon Health Foundation acting executive director Francis Trainor said more than 85,000 people admitted to hospital each year will benefit from the community’s generosity.

Auswide Plumbing & Civil team participated in the tin shaking.

“We are so thankful to the entire Geelong community who supported us through donations, volunteering, shopping with our local partners, buying raffle tickets, holding barbecues and much, much more.

“Our goal of funding vital new critical life-saving equipment for Barwon Health has been made possible thanks to you!

“There are, however, still many needs for life-saving equipment that any one of us, at any time, may need.”
