A LOCAL family is driving away in the millionth Skoda Kodiaq to be produced after winning a national competition.

From entries across the country, Geelong local 10-year-old Ethan came out on top and his family were lucky enough to take home a new car.

The “Carchibald Prize” giveaway was part of Skoda’s celebration of producing the marque’s millionth vehicle, with children invited to enter the colouring competition.

Provided with a car template, Ethan added to the design, using his creative flair to highlight his dream family road trip in the car.

All competition entries were posted to Instagram and a committee tasked with picking the finalists, before the winner was announced at an event in Melbourne.

Entrants in the competition were required to complete a colouring in of their dream family holiday in the car.

Rex Gorell Family Group marketing manager Pike Peters said it was great to have a local winner and Ethan was a particularly talented entrant.

“They [the family] were so humble that they went along, but they were standing at the back because they felt like there were so many good entries.

“Sure enough they called him out, so he was thrilled and his mum is happy to have a new car.”

The major giveaway was also a first for Rex Gorell, who have never been part of a competition where somebody drives away in a new car.

“That colouring in is something that at this level, we haven’t had,” Mr Peters said.

“If they do it, they will give away a model car, but they don’t give away a full car; it’s unique.”
