A TRIO of Drysdale All Abilities soccer players were presented with commemorative soccer balls by Bellarine MP Lisa Neville on Sunday as teams prepare for the coming season.

Anna Oaks, Tyson James and Chris Simpson were regular participants in the Drysdale Soccer Club All Abilities team last year and can’t wait to get started in the 2020 competition, due to start in April.

The balls commemorated Chris, Tyson and Anna’s participation in last year’s competition and provided them with a link to the club for the start of the new season.

Chris has played for several years in the local Geelong competition and is an ambitious goal scorer. “Me? I score lots of goals and more goals!” he said.

Anna was a first-time player last season and just loved the team spirit. “It was great fun, everyone was so nice,” she said.

Last year, the competition had six teams based across Geelong and the Bellarine. Games normally last 20 minutes and teams play twice during the Saturday morning sessions. Numbers are expected to grow this year, with interest from many participants already coming through to the clubs.

The Drysdale Soccer Club was thrilled that Ms Neville could help initiate preparations for the new season with the presentations.

“It’s always a privilege to meet people like Anna, Tyson and Chris,” Ms Neville said. “Clearly they love their soccer and have taken the opportunity to really get involved with sport in their local community.”

Registrations will open shortly. Interested individuals should phone genU on 5249 8900 or Leisure Networks on 5222 3911 for more information about their eligibility and their closest participating club.
