ANYONE looking to shop local for Christmas gifts, get an early festive treat, or connect with the community is encouraged to attend the annual Christmas Fair at the Eastern Hub tomorrow (Saturday, December 14).

The Eastern Hub is preparing for another busy event, with the popular fair expected to attract another large crowd as people get ready for the festive season.

genU chief executive officer Clare Amies said the fair had all the festive trimmings you would expect at a Christmas-themed community event.

“We have something for everyone – from the family wanting Christmas entertainment and a chance to browse stalls, to people looking for a special gift from one of the amazing local businesses,” Ms Amies said.

In the weeks before the fair, ‘elves’ were on site decking the halls with decorations and setting up the Santa chair so it is comfortable for a special visitor on the day.

“Santa will be dropping by to catch up with everyone who has been nice and maybe even a little naughty here and there,” Ms Amies said.

The Eastern Hub is usually brimming with locals each day who come to sample the delights of Seasons Cafe, wander the gardens or take part in a community program.

Ms Amies encouraged anyone who had not visited the centre before to attend the fair.

“Holding events at our amazing venue is one way we can foster genuinely inclusive communities, which is something genU takes pride in doing as part of its vision,” she said. “The Hub continues to grow in popularity, with people enjoying each other’s company in the idyllic setting.”

The 2024 Eastern Hub Christmas Fair will be held at the genU Eastern Hub Community Centre, 285A McKillop Street, East Geelong from 9am to 2.30pm tomorrow.
