GEELONG Chamber of Commerce members and business leaders rung in the new financial year at an After 5 networking event at the Geelong Arena earlier this month.

Hosted by Geelong United Basketball, attendees from across the region’s business community mixed sport with pleasure when the host club’s chief executive officer Mark Neeld and Houston Texas native and Supercats guard Demarcus Gatlin featured as guest speakers at the July 1 event.

Despite joining the crowd to cheer on the Supercats against Bendigo, both the men’s and women’s home side teams were overrun by the visitors, but levity was found when chamber CEO Ben Flynn, Safety Xperts’ Caylene Vincent, BNI’s Helen Serale and Walker Safety Services’ Cameron Walker took part in a half-time “basket bowls” game.

The monthly After 5 networking event is the largest of its kind in the region and regularly draws businesses from across Geelong, Bellarine, Torquay and Bannockburn.
