CANCER Council is encouraging the community to get their friends, family and workmates together as it opens registrations for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea 2025.

The annual campaign is an opportunity for people to catch up over morning tea while raising funds in the fight against cancer.

All money raised from the event goes towards Cancer Council’s cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs.

Cancer Council’s Naomi Watson said the council hoped this year’s event would raise more than $16 million.

“With more than 24,000 hosts participating each year, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has cemented itself as one of the country’s most successful and bellowed fundraisers.”

Events can be held anytime in May and June, with the focus on bringing people together to support the cause.

Morning teas can be held in a variety of ways including at home with friends and family, at the local park, or online through video chat.

The official date of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is May 22, however events can be held any time in May or June.

Ms Watson said despite how morning tea’s look, it’s about bringing people together in support of the cause.

“Since its beginning in 1993, Australians have hosted tens of thousands of morning teas and raised over $200 million, helping to fund life-saving research and vital support for those affected by cancer.”

Every five minutes one Australian is diagnosed with cancer and almost one in two Australians will be diagnosed before the age of 85.

Through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Cancer Council hopes to make a difference for people impacted by the disease.

“Tackling cancer takes all of us. Together, we can turn a simple morning tea into a powerful force for change,” Ms Watson said.

“Join us this May and help raise the funds needed to fight cancer, one cup at a time.”
