MORE than 1,000 people are expected to turn out at Rippleside Park on October 5 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Kids+ Kite Festival.
Hosted by local paediatric and allied health service Kids+, the free event promotes inclusion and accessibility by inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to fly a kite for a cause.
The festival will feature giant aerial kite displays, children’s activities, live entertainment, DJs and food trucks. Rippleside Park’s newly redeveloped Inclusive Playspace will also be open, giving children and their families the chance to explore the new equipment.
Kids+ marketing manager Sharon Gibbons said the milestone was a proud moment for the team behind the event.
“Seeing the event grow each year has been thrilling, with attendee numbers quadrupling since 2021,” she said.
“We know there is an appetite in the community for free, fun, family events, and we hope that attendees take an interest in who Kids+ are and what we do – most importantly, taking our message of inclusion away with them.”
The festival will also raise funds for the Kids+ Sport and Recreation Program, which offers activities such as bike-riding, surfing, swimming and skiing to children with disabilities. Kites will be available for purchase on the day, with all proceeds supporting the program.
