Footy Ferries running for crucial game
FOOTY fans can book a return ticket on Port Phillip Ferries to catch the Geelong Cats v Collingwood Magpies Qualifying Final at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
The Footy Ferries program has been running to compliment the Geelong Cats schedule in Melbourne throughout the 2022 season and the organisation is thrilled to continue providing the service for what will be an enthralling finals series.
On Saturday, September 3, Port Philip Ferries will run three separate ferries, two services from Geelong to Docklands at 9.45am and 1.45pm and a return service post game which will leave Docklands at 8.30pm and deliver fans back to Geelong.
The fast ferry will no doubt deliver fans into the Docklands terminal with plenty of time before the 4.35pm start at the MCG.
Marketing Manager for Port Phillip Ferries, Brad Wright said the organisation was thrilled to be continuing the service into finals and hoped patrons got plenty of enjoyment out of the relaxed ferry journey.
“The Footy Ferries provide Geelong residents with a much nicer experience to get to Melbourne and back with no stress.
“With the freeway a mess at the moment and overcrowded trains, sitting on a 400-seater fast ferry as you glide across the bay is just a relaxing way to travel.
“With inside and outside seating available there’s also a full licensed bar onboard which makes celebrating a Cats win even sweeter.
“The best Footy Ferry we’ve had this year was Round 15 when the Cats defeated the Tigers at the MCG… this boat was rocking on the way home with over 250 fans all singing the club song on the way home.
“Hopefully it’ll be another great game this weekend and a great response.”
The ferry will dock right in front of Marvel Stadium upon arrival and trains and trams that head to the MCG are a stone’s throw away.
Port Phillip Ferries have advised that the trams will be running to and from the Melbourne Ferry Terminal, with the quickest way to the MCG being via the No.75 Tram.
As the game is a sell-out, the ferry is likely to be busy, so Port Phillip Ferries advise patrons to book early to avoid missing out.
Boarding commences in Geelong at 1 Eastern Beach Road, Geelong (directly adjacent to The Carousel) 20 mins prior to departure and closes 3 mins before departure time.
