#FrontlineChalkSupport COVID-19 Competition
MEMBER for Western Victoria Stuart Grimley has launched a competition to keep kids entertained whilst learning from home.
The competition will see kids use footpaths and driveways as empty canvases to produce masterpieces using chalk supplied by Mr Grimley’s office.
“This is just a small thing we can do to make isolation and learning from home easier for kids and parents,” Mr Grimley said.
With the theme #FrontlineChalkSupport, the art competition is also aimed at thanking our emergency services workers, with messages or pictures of thanks to frontline workers necessary to be eligible to run in the competition.
The chosen key message is in response to the risk frontline workers are being subject to during the pandemic and the tragedy last week which saw four police officers lose their lives.
Mr Grimley is a former Victoria Police officer and knows the effects the loss of one of their own can have on the entire Victoria Police family.
“When I was a policeman, we appreciated every ‘thank you’ and act of appreciation for being on the frontline from the community, so I hope our emergency workers see the kind messages displayed on footpaths,” he said.
Further, as a former school principal, Mr Grimley knows the importance of creativity in kids’ education.
“I’m excited to see the creativity from our young community members and hopefully some conversations about how our frontline workers are protecting and helping us will continue to grow from this competition.”
There will be two winners announced on 31 May via Mr Grimley’s social media accounts, with both prizes being a $50 “Ultimate Kids Gift Card”.
Those interested can contact Mr Grimley’s office via his website stuartgrimley.com/contact and a chalk pack will be sent out via post. Photos of chalk ‘masterpieces’ will then need to be uploaded to Mr Grimley’s Facebook page by 31 May to be eligible.
