Geelong Bis-Sport Breakfast to draw big crowd
THE Barwon Sports Academy will host its biggest crowd yet of more than 250 people at its Bis-Sport Breakfast next week.
The Wednesday, August 21 event in the Captains Room at GMHBA Stadium will raise vital funds to support the region’s aspiring athletes across a total of nine sports.
Special guests are set to include Geelong Cats ruckman Toby Conway, Mark Neeld (Geelong United), Susan Meaney (Melbourne Vixens) and Penn State alumni and national tennis player Olivia Ryan.
The panel members will speak about their sporting journey so far and how the community’s support can help make more wishes come true for Geelong’s future stars.
Barwon Sports Academy chief executive officer Cameron Loftus said the event will be inspiring for the community.
“We are on track to have our biggest crowd there ever for our 12th annual event which is just terrific.
“It’s going to be a great chance for us to really discuss the future of sport in Geelong.
“The Olympics are coming to Australia in 2032 and it’s a conversation we want to be having. Our 12-year-olds will be our 20-year-olds then.
“Ultimately, we just want to give children the best chance to reach their potential.”
Since its inception 12 years ago, the event has raised more than $97,000, helping to provide 603 grants to athletes in Geelong.
The breakfast will begin at 7am.
