THE search is on again for the best and brightest businesses across the Geelong region with the launch of this year’s Geelong Business Excellence Awards (GBEAs).

Established in 1986 and managed by the Geelong Chamber of Commerce, the awards are the oldest continuously running business awards programs in Australia, and provide a significant recognition and celebration of business achievement and performance.

The chamber launched this year’s awards at its latest After 5 function, hosted on Thursday last week at the Deakin Waterfront Pantry.

Guests heard from Pete Williams, an entrepreneur, author, and the driving force behind Deakin University’s Business Development Clinic.

Mr Williams spoke about the 7 Levers Framework, a model that shows how minor shifts in key areas of a business can drive exponential profitability.

The Geelong Chamber of Commerce’s After 5 event was held at the Deakin Waterfront Pantry.

Chamber chief executive offficer Jeremy Crawford said the GBEA launch was the official beginning of a seven-month journey that would spotlight the best in Geelong.

“The best businesses, the best leaders, and according to me and everybody else, the best awards program that anyone else can find.

The event also launched this year’s Geelong Business Excellence Awards.

“But these awards are definitely more than just accolades: they are a platform to amplify local success and also to inspire others with stories of resilience, creativity, and of course, achievement.”
