THE Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) has announced the finalists in this year’s Victorian Tourism Awards, with several Geelong businesses making the cut.
The annual awards showcase businesses around Victoria who are leading the way in tourism excellence and encourages them to meet and exceed industry standards.
Geelong’s finalists are Adventure Park Geelong, Avalon Australian International Airshow, City of Greater Geelong, GMHBA Stadium – Higher Mark, Holiday Inn & Suites Geelong and Liberty Balloon Flights.
Tourism Greater Geelong and Bellarine executive director Tracy Carter said it was exciting to have so many finalists in the awards and a mark of pride for the organisation.
“Watching Geelong evolve as a thriving tourism destination has been such a thrill, and it’s mostly down to our operators; incredible people delivering incredible experiences and it’s nice to have that recognised with this list of award finalists.”
Ms Carter said operators around the region all work together to deliver great experiences for visitors and support each other with referrals and advocacy, helping make Geelong a special place for people to visit.
“This shared understanding that it takes all sorts of businesses and experiences for a dynamic and compelling tourism sector is understood and we lean into that sense of diversity as a strength.
“And we’re benefiting from investment that’s building new product – accommodation and attractions – that are attracting new markets.”
Winners will be announced at the Victorian Tourism Awards Gala Ceremony at Melbourne Park on November 27.
