Geelong Calisthenics College secures triple triumph at state championships
GEELONG Calisthenics College has emerged triumphant this year, clinching victory in three different sections at the Calisthenics Victoria State Championships.
The outstanding performances came in the Masters – division 4, Intermediates – division 1, and Sub-juniors, who secured the top spot in the North West Premier division.
Principal coach Donna Argent said the wins were a reflection of the commitment and rigorous training throughout the year.
“I’m so proud of the dedication and training all participants have put in this year, for such amazing results,” Ms Argent said.
“The master’s actually won all three of their competitions in 2023, so a fantastic season for them.”
Calisthenics, a uniquely Australian sport, encompasses strength, flexibility, and grace.
Participants learn a variety of routines set to different music.
Competitions are run statewide, and the Royal South Street Competition
also attracts competitors from
interstate.
Established in 1956, Geelong Calisthenics College is a family affair, with Ms Argent and her mother Maree serving as dual principals.
Both of Ms Argent’s daughters have also contributed to coaching at the college.
The performers’ ages range from as young as 3 in the Tinie Tots category to the Masters category for those aged 26 and above.
The college is looking forward to welcoming new members for the coming year in 2024.
