THE Geelong City Markets have locked in a start date and have also unveiled its first wave of stallholders, with more announcements to come.

Yesterday, the market’s organisers revealed stallholders at the market in central Geelong on Saurdays would include the award-winning kitchen of Alma Restaurant, the sea-salt perfection of Mi Shells Seafood, the earthy brilliance of Mushroom Connection, the butter-filled dreams of Two Tins Patisserie, and the modern flair of XO Project, regenerative growers Soli Farms, caffeine specialists The Local Cafe and local oil experts Geelong Regional Olives.

Market directors Kieran Blood and Simon Toohey said the market, which will start later this month, represents a new chapter for Geelong; one that celebrates the region’s creativity, food culture, and community spirit.

The pair envision a space in the Little Malop Street Mall that connects people through shared experiences, supports small business, and shines a light on the producers and makers who define the region.

Geelong Region Olives will also present their wares at the weekly market.

Their shared goal is to build a market that belongs to Geelong – a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive space that reflects the city’s growing energy and creativity – and one that is accessible weekly and that is not only about shopping but also about connection, discovery, and pride of place.

Visitors can expect fresh produce, ready-to-eat food, live music, workshops, and a rotating showcase of regional talent and creativity. Every element of the market reflects a “locals first” ethos, championing sustainability, collaboration and local pride.

The market’s philosophy “Eat it. Drink it. Grow it. Create it” is driving decisions including waste-free operations to a focus on regional provenance.

The butter-filled dreams of Two Tins Patisserie will be on offer.

There will also hands-on cooking workshops, live masterclasses, producer-led tastings that showcase the depth of local talent, cheese and wine sessions that bring producers and the public together, live music from emerging regional artists, and interactive food and sustainability demonstrations that connect city life with the soil it depends on.

The first Geelong City Market will take place on October 25 from 9am to 2pm, and will return every Saturday after that.
