Geelong Comedy Festival brings massive lineup
The Geelong Comedy Festival has officially released the line-up for the coming event in October.
Returning for its second year, the festival will include more than 60 acts, with Geelong Comedy Festival co-founder Blaise White saying the festival was very proud of this year’s line-up.
“We think it’s quite a diverse line-up, not only with people and backgrounds, but genres of comedy.
“We’ve got quite an array of clowns, we’ve got some children shows coming along as well, which are soon to be released, we’ve got plenty of queer and women friendly shows as well as just a bunch of great stand up and line-up shows.”
Well-known names Geraldine Hickey, Lloyd Langford, Brett Blake and Tom Ballard will form part of the line-up.
Local and coming acts are also a major part of this year’s festival and include comedians Ellen Mahoney, Connor Morel, Liam Erck and PJ White.
“We like that people will go and see people from the TV, but we really like as well that you can get in on similar ticket prices to go and see some new comics and the line-ups,” festival co-founder Kelly Baker said.
“We really like that we’ve got a mix of local and young Melbourne comedians coming on board. We’ve got a few people doing their first solo shows, which is fantastic.”
When it comes to choosing who takes the stage as part of the festival, those wanting to participate complete an application and submit a pitch before a team go through and select who makes it onto the schedule.
“We got a whole bunch of applications of people that wanted to come down and we think we’ve taken some of the best and we’re really excited to show it,” Mr White said.
Eight venues around Geelong will play host to the four-day festival including Anabelas, Beavs Bar, Medusa, Manhattan Bar and more, all within walking distance of each other.
Keep an eye on the website as more acts continue to be announced.
The Geelong Comedy Festival will run from October 31 until November 3.
