Geelong-made wheels carry Ferrari speed demon
A GEELONG manufacturer has helped develop the most powerful road-legal Ferrari ever designed.
Carbon fibre wheels from Carbon Revolution will be fitted to the limited series Ferrari SF90 XX vehicle, which is arrive in Australia at the end of next year.
The Waurn Ponds-based producer has developed a deep partnership with the luxury car brand as a supplier since 2018, when its wheels began carrying the 488 Pista.
Ford’s Shelby Mustang and GT, Corvette Z06 and coming E-Ray, Range Rover Sport SV, and RenaultSport Megane RS Trophy Rare among the other distinguishable models using the Geelong-made parts.
The coming XX range is a development of Ferrari’s previous SPF90 series, which Carbon Revolution also supplied.
The SPF90 XX will be a hybrid vehicle that will reportedly include electric range of up to 25km in addition to the supercharged 758-kilowatt V8 engine.
Car industry outlets have reported the new range will be capable of reaching 100kmh in 2.3 sec seconds and 200khm in 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 320kmh.
The series has been strictly limited to 1,398 cars (799 coupes and 599 ‘Spider’ convertibles), which are already sold out ahead of production next year. A small number are reportedly coming to Australia.
Carbon Revolution started in 2007 as a venture aimed a bringing efficiency technology to vehicle manufacturers.
It claims to be the only company producing the wheels at scale and says it has ambitions on supplying aerospace and industrial wheel sectors in the future.
Its automated factory is based at Deakin University’s Geelong Technology Precinct.
