GEELONG Mums is setting a $200,000 target for the annual Giving Day which will aim to raise funds for the organisation so they can continue to rehome essential items to give children the best start in life.

Geelong Mums Head of Operations and Impact, Julia Roache said Geelong Mums were hoping to ride the wave of momentum from their incredibly successful Mother’s Day Lunch into their Giving Day on June 15.

“We managed to achieve our best fundraising efforts ever at our Mother’s Day Lunch and are hoping the community really embrace us once again on our Giving Day.

“It’s a special one this year because it’s a big way of celebrating our ten-year anniversary too.

“Over the last 10 years, we have gifted more than 40,000 babies and children with goods worth over $13 million.

“We’re only just getting started…. imagine what can be done in the next 10 years with the community’s support.

“As winter emerges, children continue to need our help as they grow out of last year’s winter coat and shoes.

“Anything that the community can give would be much appreciated so we can continue helping thousands more babies.”

All donations during the Geelong Mums Giving Day will be doubled thanks to the kind support of Decujba, Loreal and the Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation.

“It’s double the money and double the love,” Mrs Roache said.

“There are so many families in our community struggling with the rising cost of living – they don’t have the essential items they need to care for their children.

“Families should never have to worry about – a safe place to sleep – a cot with warm bedding, a safe way to travel – a car restraint or pram, warm and cosy clothing for winter.

“We know how well the community has supported us in the past… it’s more important than ever to keep supporting us.”
