THE donation of more than 100 pairs of trainers and school shoes by a first-time donor to volunteer organisation Geelong Mums will give children in need the comfort to kickstart their 2023 with success.

Last week, Geelong Mums were thrilled to get a huge delivery of brand-new footwear from Sportspower Pakenham who had reached out and praised the local organisation for their wonderful efforts in helping families in need.

Pairs of Nike, Diadora, SFIDA and Asics shoes are now stacked roof high at the Geelong Mums warehouse, ready to be allocated to local children whose families are under economic, psychological and or physical distress.

Geelong Mums Head of Operations and Impact, Julia Roache said the shoes would give children the proper footwear to get their schooling journey off to a strong start in 2023.

“At this time of the year, the thought that kids are starting school without a good set of shoes is heartbreaking,” Roache said.

“Thanks to Sportspower Pakenham, the children we support will not only get a regular pair of shoes, but a brand-new pair of shoes!

“It’s an amazing show of support from the Sportspower team and we know that these new shoe packs we put together will just fly out the door.

“We are so grateful to them for thinking of us!”

Geelong and St Kilda Mums volunteers with the new pairs of trainers and school shoes.

Ms Roache said the new shoe packs will include a mixture of four or five footwear options including school shoes, sneakers and trainers.

The shoes will be spread across and allocated by the Geelong Mums, St Kilda Mums and Eureka Mums branches.
