THE state’s best rodeo action returns to the Geelong Showgrounds on February 11 offering entertainment for the entire family, featuring a full range of roughstock events.

Geelong Pro Rodeo organiser Nicole McDonald said the event is back in full force featuring barrel racing, steer wrestling, breakaway roping and bullriding.

Ms McDonald said spectators would have a variety of new seating arrangements for next weekend’s event.

“We’re introducing premium, grandstand and ringside seating this year to accommodate the large numbers we’re expecting, which will address some of those issues from last year,” Ms McDonald said.

“We’re continually looking to improve upon the Geelong Rodeo each year and we’ve also introduced a family zone, purely for families who are worried their kids can’t see the rodeo as well.”

Ms McDonald said the return of its major sponsors would allow the Benalla-based M5Rodeo team to hit the ground running.

“We are really excited to be back in Geelong again this year,” Ms McDonald added.

“We have our major sponsors Scope Australia and Perry Demolition back on with us again which just goes to show the kind of reception we had last year and the type of event we hope to run down the track.”

The Geelong Rodeo’s gates open at 4pm beginning with the Junior Rodeo and the Cow Kids Hour at 5.30pm where children can try their hand at rodeo disciplines, practice on roping dummies, and try on all the rodeo gear that professionals wear.

“Geelong has always been a great city for the rodeo and again we hope its residents can enjoy a little of what we love to do,” Ms McDonald said.

The main rodeo performance kicks off at 7pm to conclude the night.

Tickets to the Geelong Pro Rodeo can be obtained at m5rodeo.com.au

Children under the age of five can the rodeo enter free of charge.
