Geelong Show back to its best despite Friday deluge
DESPITE some inclement weather, organisers of this year’s Royal Geelong Show have hailed the event as a huge success following a strong turnout.
Royal Geelong Agricultural and Pastoral Society president Tom McCann and his team were pleased with how this year’s event unfolded at the Geelong Showgrounds.
“We’re happy with how it panned out here,” Mr McCann said during the show’s pack-up on Monday.
“It’s not been lost on us of how grateful we are the community continued to show up in force to the show after Friday’s rain forced us to close.
“We’ve had really good patronage, on the Thursday and Sunday, which was really pleasing for us to see.”
Standouts of this year’s show included the fireworks, the carnival rides, monster trucks, and livestock events, which created plenty of good atmosphere.
Mr McCann said the volunteers and committee members will enjoy and reflect on this year’s efforts, before attention then turns to next year’s show.
“We’re absolutely looking to go bigger and better next year, we’ve worked on what we need to improve on, and we’ll have a post-show review really soon,” he said.
“We’re also still slightly finding our feet post-COVID, but we’re certainly eager to keep filling up the showgrounds each year with more attractions now than ever before.”
