THE show will not go on in Geelong in 2020, with organisers announcing today that this year’s Royal Geelong Show had been cancelled due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement on the show’s website, the Royal Geelong Agricultural & Pastoral Society (RGAPS) said their decision “was a very difficult one to make”.

“The current COVID-19 restrictions and the difficulties associated with meeting the government requirements to ensure the health and safety of all involved needed to be considered.

“The RGAPS Committee of Management came to the unanimous decision that there was no other option than to cancel.”

The show was to be held from October 15-18 this year.

“We thank all those that have already given their invaluable time in preparation for the 2020 Show,” RGAPS said in their statement.

“We now turn our attention to ensuring that the Royal Geelong Show is back in 2021 bigger and better than ever.”

According to a counter on the website, the 2021 Royal Geelong Show is 464 days away.
