THE Geelong Harness Racing Club will transform into a sea of pink on Friday, May 16 when Dine for Pink returns.
Held in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA), the annual event aims to raise awareness within the local community and support the work of the BCNA.
Guest speakers this year will be made up of local and breast cancer survivor Daniela Damevska and Nicole Riddle.
Geelong Harnes Racing Club general manager Joe Fiala said this is the fourth year they have held the event, with parent company Harness Racing Victoria running Pacing for Pink in May.
“Each club tries to do their own, we call ours Dine for Pink,” he said.
“Pacing for Pink in Harness Racing Victoria is awareness for breast cancer, the whole industry gets behind breast cancer for the month of May.
Mr Fiala said through the event they hope to raise awareness around the early signs of cancer, what to look for and getting checked.
“Making sure that both men and women get checked, not just leave it lie, to actually go and get those checks done and if you feel something or you see something, just be aware.”
Along with a night of harness racing, the event will also include raffles and a silent auction, ran by Buxton Real Estate’s Matt Plunkett, who is donating his time for the cause.
Tickets will also include a two-course meal and racebook, with all proceeds going towards the BCNA.
