GEELONG United Basketball has locked in a new partnership with RMA Civil Construction, which will now have the naming rights to its Community Super Camps program

The partnership was officially launched last week, providing a boost to the organisation ahead of its WNBL home opener against Sydney at Geelong Arena on October 18.

The investment reflects a growing trend of local construction companies recognising the value and return that comes from supporting women’s sport.

The partnership extends beyond grassroots basketball development, with RMA also investing in a courtside box for the 2025-26 WNBL season and taking on a player sponsorship opportunity.

Geelong United Basketball general manager of partnerships and marketing Connie Regan said the partnership would help build the next generation of elite and community athletes.

“Since launching our Geelong WNBL team, we have seen a 40 per cent increase in female participation, with over 100 young girls attending this round of community camps.

“Partnerships such as this one with RMA allow us to strengthen pathways for young athletes and create more opportunities for participation, development, and inspiration.

“These investments make a genuine impact and highlight the increasing recognition of the power of

women’s sport.”

RMA Civil Construction director Matthew Ayres said the company’s support was an extension of its philosophy of giving back into the community.

“Geelong United Basketball has built an incredible pathway for the next generation of female basketballers, and it’s something we want to support — not only as a business, but also as a family.

“My daughter Grace is part of this journey, and I want her and others to see what’s possible when community and opportunity come together.”
