GEELONG United Basketball (GUB) has announced a partnership with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) ahead of the 2025 Koorr Koorr Ngitji Tournament, which will take place in Geelong in November.

The Koorr Koorr Ngitji Tournament is a celebration of community pride for Victorian basketball, encouraging positive pathways for all ages, genders and backgrounds and embracing sport, teamwork and connection.

TAC chief executive officer Tracey Slatter expressed her excitement in partnering with the tournament.

“We’re proud to be part of an event in our own community that uses the strength of sport to unite people and promote shared responsibility,” she said.

“Koorr Koorr Ngitji is a perfect platform for supporting young people, celebrating culture, and encouraging safer travel behaviours as teams and families journey across the state to connect through basketball.

“We hope this partnership can empower (Victorians) to be leaders and ambassadors for road safety.”

The TAC plans to deliver a series of activations throughout the tournament, designed to engage players, families and fans with key road safety messages. GUB CEO Mark Neeld is also enthusiastic about the partnership.

“Koorr Koorr Ngitji is more than a tournament – it’s a statement of unity,” he said.

“We’re grateful to the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative for shaping this event’s identity, and to TAC for supporting us in bringing its purpose to life.” The event is now in its fourth year. The 2025 edition of the tournament will be held on November 1 and November 2.
