Geelong Visitor Information Centre moves into new home
THE revamped Geelong Visitor Information Centre is now open at City Hall following 30 years of being located at the National Wool Museum.
The Gheringhap Street located visitor and tourism hub will be a central point for locals and visitors from Melbourne, regional Victoria, interstate and overseas to access information about what Greater Geelong has to offer.
Its volunteers can connect tourists with art and culture recommendations, hospitality and accommodation providers, car rentals, laundromats, supermarkets, public transport, dump points and more.
Local tours with volunteer guides are also on offer from the centre for $15 per person (prebooking is essential).
Mayor Trent Sullivan said the new visitor centre would inspire visitors to do and see more in Geelong.
“Our Visitor Information Centre is a great place for visitors to take a breather in their journey and explore ideas to make their trip that bit more unique.
“Visitors can grab a map, brochures or inspiration from our fantastic volunteers with local knowledge on the many things to see and do.
“Our volunteers really know our region inside and out and are dedicated to helping visitors have the best experience possible – we even have five volunteers celebrating 30 years with us.”
Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine executive director, Tracey Carter said the new space would be a great asset to the community.
“After months of dedication and hard work, we’re thrilled to throw open the doors to our brand new Visitor Information Centre at City Hall.
“The foyer has received a fresh lick of paint, our colourful branding is splashed brightly on the walls, and the brochure racks are up and ready.
“We can’t wait to greet and welcome visitors in our space in the heart of the cultural and dining precinct.”
