THE community consultation period has been extended for the Geelong Youth Survey, allowing more young people to express what they value and the challenges they face.

The City of Greater Geelong survey which is now open until this Sunday, May 18, identifies young people’s wellbeing, education, employment, leisure and safety.

More than 2,000 contributions have already been made to the survey, or via drop-in sessions with youth staff.

Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj thanked those who have taken the time to contribute so far.

“The more responses we receive, either online or in person, the clearer the picture we will have about the experience of growing up in Geelong,” he said.

“This will mean we can better tailor programs, events, and opportunities young people would like to see from Council.”

Youth council junior mayor Ayush Singh said it was awesome to see young people helping to advance the municipality.

“The Youth Council is looking forward to using the information collected from the surveys to better support the young community.”

By sharing their views, young people can go into the draw to win a Nintendo Switch, Kindle, iPad, wireless headphones, a portable Bluetooth speaker or one of five $100 Westfield vouchers.

Young people can chat directly to the city’s youth team at:

The fOrT, Corio – Monday to Friday from 4pm to 6pm

The Nest Central Youth Hub – Monday to Friday from 3.30pm to 6pm, and

Armstrong Creek East Community Centre Youth Drop In – Wednesdays 3.30pm to 6pm.
