MILLIONS of Australians will head to the polls tomorrow (Saturday, October 14) to vote in a referendum about whether Australia will establish a Voice to Parliament.

The referendum will ask voters whether to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.

Early voting opened in Victoria on Monday last week.

As of Monday this week, 2.2 million people have voted at an early voting centre, and 1.9 million people have applied for a postal vote.

Australian Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers said early voting centres would remain open until today (Friday, October 13) for people who cannot make it to a pollng place tomorrow.

“If you’re busy on Saturday or aren’t certain of your circumstances, then you need to plan where and when you’ll be able to cast your vote.

“Voting in a referendum is compulsory.”
