March 29, 2024 BY

The Give Where You Live Foundation raised $105,000 in their week-long appeal this year for a fairer community.

THIS year’s week-long appeal for the Give Where You Live Foundation came to an end on Friday last we.

The appeal saw $105,000 raised for the Geelong community through their Footy Gear Friday initiative and Give Geelong Breakfast event.

Starting on March 15, 23 local businesses and schools joined in on the fun, wearing their team colours for Footy Gear Friday, with donations to the appeal being matched up to $15,000 thanks to Hanlon Industries and Auswide Plumbing and Civil.

More than 300 people attended the Give Geelong Breakfast event where Lazarus Community Centre, The Outpost and Geelong Food relief gave an insight into the important work they do.

Give Where You Live Foundation chief executive officer Bill Mithen said the foundation was inspired by the community’s generosity in getting behind the appeal and supporting those in need.

“We acknowledge that any donation is an incredible gift to our community, particularly with the rising cost of living, when so many in our region are facing financial pressures of their own.

“We are overwhelmed with the support we received from the Geelong Community who have really showed up to support each other.”

All funds raised will support the foundation’s work in creating a positive and lasting change for a fairer community.

“Our work is not possible without the generosity of the community,” Mr Mithen said.

“Because of this incredible support, we will be able to make real change to many people’s lives. This generosity will help us to provide support in the areas of inclusive employment, homelessness and food security.”

The foundation is grateful for the support of the Geelong community in getting behind the 2024 Give Geelong Appeal.

“We would like to thank our Appeal partners, Hanlon Industries, Auswide Plumbing and Civil, K Rock 95.5, Bay 93.9, Times News Group and our breakfast sponsors BBC Digital and Worksafe for their ongoing support in helping the foundation to create a fairer community.”
