THE Greater Geelong community will have the opportunity to journey through some of the finest breweries in town at the Hop-A-Long Geelong festival event.

Charging into town on April 1, the event will give locals the chance to hop their way through six venues, sampling 24 delicious beers served up by a selection of Australia’s top brewers.

The six venues taking part in the special Tastes of Central Geelong extension event include The Brewery Geelong, Medusa, Cartel Coffee Roasters, Pistol Pete’s Food n Blues, Union Street Wine Bar and Valhalla Taproom.

With so many fantastic beers to get their hands on, The Brewery Geelong owner Adam Smith hoped people would flock to get a taste of what’s on offer.

The event is part of the Tastes of Central Geelong festival.

“We are pumped, we’ve been wanting to do it for a few years now and to actually get it off the ground finally is really exciting,” Smith said.

“There will be 12 breweries involved at the six venues… we’ve got a showcase of most of Geelong’s local breweries and then four out of towners as well.

“Each brewery will bring a beer that they haven’t really released before or haven’t really exposed before… it’ll give everyone something exciting to try.”

Tickets are $60 and are inclusive of 24x 100ml tastings, a $10 food voucher to use at one of our venues, an official Hop-A-Long beer passport and a souvenir Hop-A-Long Geelong pot glass with a glass holder.

“It’s a really good value proposition, for $60 you essentially get a $10 food voucher and 2.5 litres of beer,” Smith said.

“Trying to do a festival, that’s about the cheapest you can get,” Smith said.
