Grapes of Mirth uncorked at Mt Duneed Estate

LAUGHTER and wine flowed freely across Mt Duneed Estate as a crowd of thousands enjoyed six hours of comedy and wine at Grapes of Mirth.

Saturday’s event included the comedic talent of Peter Helliar, Denise Scott, Melanie Bracewell, Mel Buttle, Nick Cody and event founder and head clown Merrick Watts.

 

 

Watts, who also hosted the event, playfully teased people in the crowds for their choice of hats, names, and choice of pets and kickstarted an afternoon that was visibly enjoyed by those in attendance.

In between comedy acts, DJ Pedro Moshman entertained the audience.

 

 

Grapes of Mirth founder Merrick Watts said the show far exceeded the team’s expectations.

“It was a bloody great day, I absolutely loved the crowd, as did the other comedians,” Watts said.

“An interesting point of difference for this event is the sense that the barriers between performers and the audience are smashed.

“The comedians seem to connect more directly with their audience and as result, the audience does so with the performer. It’s a nice touch.

“It was really special to have such a great time on our first outing and we hope to set it as an annual event.”

 

 

Post-event, the performers all piled into a stretch Ferrari limousine that had been organised by Merrick for an extra laugh and photo opportunity.
