THE Geelong Racing Club are thrilled to be bringing the bet365 Good Friday Country Discovery Race Day to Geelong for the very first time, with plenty of activities, entertainment and hospitality packages on offer for any type of racegoer to indulge in.

Running as a standalone event across the state on Good Friday (Friday, April 7), a full day of racing is a guarantee, while plenty of fun will be included for the whole family to enjoy including the Furphy Beer Garden, Makers Market Garden and Kids Zone.

Geelong Racing Club Commercial Manager Sarah Start said the event would certainly be one not to miss.

“It’s the second of five Good Friday Races that Country Racing Victoria are running, last year it was at Sale and this year it’s at Geelong,” Start said.

“It’s a big one-off chance for us to make a big deal about it and we are putting plenty of things on for all our attendees to enjoy.

“We will have a market that will showcase providers from Geelong, the Bellarine and Surf Coast, have a large kid’s interactive section, live entertainment and much more.

“It’s going to be a big community experience and we are doing lots of work with the tourism office to push visitation down this way to get people to enjoy the full Easter long weekend down in our region.

“After the Geelong Cup, we expect this to be the next big thing and are hoping to put on a bit of a show to make sure people enjoy themselves.”

A total of $1.4 million worth of prize money will be on offer between the eight races on the day, including $500,000 during the main event ‘The Country Discovery’ race.

For those wanting to enjoy watching the action in luxury, a variety of hospitality and dining experiences will be up for grabs.

The event’s feature marquee ($250pp) ‘The Discovery Marquee’ is set to be the Geelong Racing Club’s most premium hospitality experience on the day, with all-inclusive grazing, a five-hour beverage package, premium mounting yard location, exclusive indoor and outdoor seating and live music and entertainment coming as just some of the benefits.

Dining experiences will be available inside the Silks or Committee Room with packages starting from $99, while others can enjoy lawn experience packages to get as close to the track as possible.

In partnership with Country Racing Victoria, the Geelong Racing Club will be giving out free ticket to community organisations like the CFA and Barwon Health for their work in assisting the population during the pandemic.

From all admission tickets, $5 will also go towards providing world class care to children at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne through the Good Friday Appeal.
