GEELONG Racing Club (GRC) has announced an agreement for Ladbrokes Australia to be its new major partner.

Both businesses said the collaboration would elevate the racing experience for fans and participants.

As part of this partnership, which will start on August 1, Ladbrokes will gain naming rights to the Ladbrokes Geelong Cup on October 23 this year and the Ladbrokes Coastal Classic on Super Saturday in January 2025.

Ladbrokes, which is part of Entain Australia and New Zealand, is long associated with racing in Australia, and aligns with the GRC’s vision of enhancing the spectacle and excitement of racing for all stakeholders.

GRC chief executive officer Luke Rayner said he was thrilled to welcome Ladbrokes as the club’s new major partner.

“Firstly, I would like to recognise the commitment and contribution of our current partner Bet365.

“This was not a decision that was made lightly, and we ran a robust process to ensure the best possible fit for the club moving forward.

“Ultimately, we want to be a progressive club and we feel the partnership with Ladbrokes puts us in a strong position to deliver upon this into the future.

“We look forward to working together to provide an exceptional experience for our members, patrons, and the broader racing community.”

He said the GRC’s key feature days, The Ladbrokes Geelong Cup and Ladbrokes Coastal Classic on Super Saturday would “undoubtedly reach new heights” under the partnership.

The partnership will see Ladbrokes integrated into various facets of the GRC, including capital investment into improving on course facilities.

Members and patrons can look forward to enhanced race day experiences that will bring them closer to the action.

Ladbrokes Australia executive director of stakeholder engagement Karl deKroo welcomed Geelong to the broad network of race clubs sponsored by Ladbrokes across Australia.

“We really pride ourselves on being a racing-led brand, and our focus has always been on supporting the industry that supports,” Mr deKroo said.

“Geelong has proven itself as one of the most progressive provincial race clubs in Victoria and partnering with Luke and his team allows us to further cement our position as leaders in the market and support the vibrant racing community in Geelong.

“We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring, particularly with the Ladbrokes Geelong Cup running in the same week as Australia’s best race, the Ladbrokes Cox Plate.”
