THE Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride returned in strong numbers on Saturday.

About 3,500 registered participants started and finished in Torquay, cycling along one of the world’s most scenic roads.

Participants could enter a 60km Recreational Ride, 145km Classic Ride or 204km Amy’s Ride, as they cycled past sheer limestone cliffs and the picturesque farmlands of the Otway ranges.

Riders soaked up the breathtaking coastal scenery and explored the coastal and Otway towns along the way.

Those in the 145km ride also enjoyed 90km of road closures.

The Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride supports the Amy Gillett Foundation, to educate and advocate for safe cycling.

All participants were encouraged to fundraise for this important cause.

Individuals and teams raised just over $10,000, which will be used to continue to support the urgent work to stop preventable cyclist deaths.

The next Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride will be held on April 30, 2022. Registrations are now open – head to greatoceanotwayclassic.com.au.
