July 7, 2023 BY

ONE of the Geelong Business Excellence Awards’ strongest success stories will bring more than a decades’ worth of experience to this year’s judging panel.

Roderick Insurance Brokers is continuing its long-standing support of the annual showcase as a supporter in 2023.

Its involvement with the GBEAs includes multiple business awards wins and as a hall of fame inductee in 2015, with the ongoing support testament of the value the business places in the event’s role as a launching platform for business success.

Roderick Insurance Brokers sales and claims manager Paul Codd will join the awards’ judging panel this year, and said he was keen to share his first-hand experience with new and returning entrants.

“I’m very excited – I jumped at the chance really when the opportunity was proposed to me.

“Being part of the process early on, I think it’ll give me a good idea of what to look for, and hopefully I can potentially impart a bit of knowledge to the to the various contestants.

“We can genuinely say that it’s a really great experience for people to get involved in.

“It’s a fairly robust process, it’s not an easy sort of thing just to do quickly. You really need to embrace it, but I think you do get a lot out of it.

Mr Codd recalled his experience of the awards process in the early 2010s, when Roderick claimed awards for medium-sized business excellence, as proof of its benefits.

“The judging panel has experience in a whole range of areas, and gave us some unique insights into what they viewed as a successful business, and perhaps what we should be aiming for to ensure that we create a sustainable and viable business.

“It really gave us that, hard nose discipline, to ensure we focus on the on the things that enable us to grow and become a respected part of the overall business community.”

Mr Codd said the valuable advice from local business experts and potential exposure to a new, larger client base made it a rewarding experience for applicants.
