Have your say on proposed sale of former Saleyards
COMMUNITY feedback is being sought on the proposed sale of part of the land at the site of the former Geelong Saleyards.
The saleyards, which closed in 2017 has been subject to long-term planning with future development of the area flagged by the City of Greater Geelong.
The land is earmarked for higher-density housing, quality public spaces, community facilities, and limited commercial uses, in line with an adopted precinct plan.
Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said the proposed sale represented a significant step in unlocking the site’s potential.
“This is a key opportunity to transform a dormant site into a vibrant, livable precinct that meets the needs of our growing community.
“We want to hear feedback from residents, businesses and stakeholders about the proposed sale of this important site.”
Deakin Ward councillor Andrew Katos encouraged locals to submit their feedback.
“This is a major site in North Geelong with the potential to deliver real benefits for the community.
“We’re committed to a transparent process and want to ensure the community’s voice is heard before any decisions are made.”
Community members can view details of the proposal and make a submission by heading to yoursay.geelongaustralia.com.au
Submissions are open until 5pm on July 13.
