headspace Corio officially opens

HEADSPACE Corio has officially opened on Thursday last week, and the centre has seen a steady stream of young people seeking help come through the doors since the facility began operating on May 2.

Stride Mental Health is running the centre with federal government funding through the Western Victoria Primary Health Network.

Young people aged 12 to 25 can get access to information and services to support mental health, physical health (including sexual health) and alcohol and other drugs.

“By increasing access to high-quality services like headspace, we can help more young people in the Geelong region to develop the resilience and coping strategies necessary to manage their mental ill-health and maintain their wellbeing into the future,” Stride Mental Health chief executive officer Drikus van der Merwe said.

“Over the past year, 220 young people accessed services at headspace Geelong that will now have a closer centre available to them in Corio.”

headspace Corio, at 6/10-16 Station Street, Norlane is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 9am-5pm. Young people, their friends and family can visit the centre, phone 5202 8290 or email [email protected]
