Highlighting support for Geelong disability community
IN CONJUNCTION with International Day of People with Disability, a diverse information session will be held at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre next week.
Taking place on Tuesday, December 3, the fair will bring around 15 local organisations including genU and its employment division, MatchWorks, Connect You 2 and more to host information stalls.
Local services will hold presentations and information workshops around how to understand barriers to accessing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
genU chief executive officer Clare Amies said the goal of the event is to ensure people with disability, their families and carers stay informed about the services and supports in the region.
“The collective approach and increased connection among all the services demonstrates everyone’s commitment to serve people with disability and help foster genuinely inclusive communities.
“At genU, our purpose is enriching as many people’s lives as we can, through supports, connections and opportunities, and being part of the fair is one way we can achieve that goal.”
The free event will run from 2.30pm until 5.30pm
