Historic appointment as Bellbrae builder elected
MARK Little is the new Master Builders Victoria president, the first regionally-based builder to be elected for the role.
Mr Little, who resides in Bellbrae, was elected unopposed for a two-year term.
Little, of Little Constructions in Geelong, had the support of 12 of the 13 councillors and, therefore, saw no other candidate run against him on Friday.
Little’s passion for his industry is obvious and he has a wealth of experience to go with it. He said it was an honour to be elected and spoke of the importance his industry has to play in the economy as we navigate our way out of a difficult year.
“It is an honour to be elected president of Master Builders Victoria. I became a student member back in 1998 and have been a continuous member of Master Builders Victoria ever since,” Little said.
“I know the significant role the organisation plays in our industry. Our work has never been more important than what it was in 2020 with the day-to-day challenges faced by our industry through COVID-19.
“This leads to an exciting time to be president as we move into 2021. Our industry will lead Victoria’s economic recovery in the years ahead, so it will be our voice that shapes that recovery in Victoria.”
Little thanked all the members following the election.
“I thank outgoing president Richard Hansen, and the other outgoing members of the board, council and of management and sector committees for their contribution to Master Builders Victoria. I also congratulate all board, council of management and sector committee members elected for 2021, including Geoff Purcell and Sam Cimino who I’ll be working closely with as deputy president and treasurer.”
Little’s connection with Master Builders Victoria dates all the way back to 1997 where he won an array of awards. He took out the Geelong section Apprentice of the Year, Best Overall Apprentice in carpentry – Geelong section and the Master Builders Victoria Florence M Taylor Medallion.
