PLANS are taking shape for the future of the Geelong West Community Hub, with locals invited to share feedback on a new draft concept plan.
The concept outlines how the existing facility could evolve to better meet the needs of the growing community, improving accessibility, flexibility and its connection to neighbouring West Park.
Developed by the City of Greater Geelong in collaboration with the Geelong West Neighbourhood House, the plan features ideas such as reconfigured internal spaces to allow multiple programs to run at once, a new deck linking the building to the park, and upgraded bathrooms and car parking.
The stage could also be transformed into a multipurpose room, and the rear entry redesigned to create a more welcoming and functional space.
While funding for construction is not currently available, the plan represents a vision for how the hub could be improved in future.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj said community input would help ensure the design reflects local priorities.
“We want to know whether the proposed concept plan reflects what you value in a community hub,” he said.
“If there’s anything you feel is missing or could be improved, please let us know.
“The goal is to make sure the final design supports accessibility, sustainability, flexible spaces and cultural inclusion.”
Feedback is open until 5pm on December 3. Head to yoursay.geelongaustralia.com.au/geelong-west-community-hub-draft-concept-plan
