ST Joseph’s College Geelong has honoured some of its high achievers in arts at an alumni ceremony.

The school launched its Celebration of the Alumni in Arts project last week, which acknowledges the rich artistic talent that has passed through its grounds over the years.

Dozens of alumni and college members gathered at the Peter Cannon Performing Arts Centre for the unveiling of 10 plaques highlighting the achievements of former St Joseph’s students in arts industries.

The alumni recognised included:

  • Adrian Bourke – a major events producer who worked on the 2012 London Olympic Games
  • Yirrmal – a Yolngu storyteller, performer, songwriter connecting First Nations cultures to mainstream Australia
  • Lyndon Watts – a theatre performer who recently starred in Hamilton the Musical
  • Nick Mangan – drawing, sculpture, film and installation artist
  • Leigh Ratcliffe – award-winning architect behind luxury Australian resorts
  • Chris Scaddan – a radio executive, most notably with the ABC and Triple J
  • Xavier Rudd – internationally-renowned singer and songwriter
  • Thomas Lentini – furniture maker who has exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria and worked for Louis Vutton Australia, and
  • Roger Heagney – a classical instrumentalist including piano, harpsichord and organ.

St Joseph’s Principal Tony Paatsch said the college would continue expanding its honour board as past, current and future students continued making a mark in the arts world.

“St Joseph’s College could not be prouder of its alumni,” he said.

“We are delighted to recognise the incredible artistic talent that exists within our alumni community and to celebrate their achievements through this wonderful Celebration of Alumni in the Arts honour wall, which we hope will also serve to engage and inspire our students now and for years to come.”
