Joey’s Grand Final bonanza
MORE than $20,000 will be reinjected back into the St Joseph’s Football Netball Club, following the success of its annual Grand Final Eve Luncheon.
A packed room in excess of 370 people enjoyed a day of entertainment, food and refreshments in the Presidents Room at GMHBA Stadium last Thursday (September 25).

Attendees were spoiled with guest appearances from Geelong Cats premiership captain Cameron Ling, Essendon legend Simon Madden, 2008 Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney and much-loved comedian Dave O’Neil.
All funds raised from the event’s raffles and auctions will go towards providing new sporting lights to the club to allow it to host night games.

St Joseph’s FNC president Sue Cormack said the club was thrilled with the fundraising efforts.
“It certainly was a very successful day in many ways… to raise over $20,000 is just a fantastic effort.
“We are in the midst of our next capital works project, which is our lights. It’s been a big fundraising effort over a longer period of time.
“They [the lights] are bordering on unsafe at the moment. They are sitting on 43 lux, but our upgrades will be able to get them up to 150 lux.
“It’s sure to change our week around and help us with playing our football.”

Sponsorship committee member John Watts celebrated the energy in the room on the day.
“We had amazing guest speakers who just spoke excellently. Dave in particular did a great job keeping everyone in a good mood and laughing.
“Qest Infrastructure were the major sponsor of the day, and they were very happy with how the day went and are keen to continue supporting us.”
