Kardinia Park to get digital billboard boost
KARDINIA Park Stadium Trust has lodged an application with the City of Greater Geelong to install a digital billboard as part of an external signage program.
Designed to enhance the stadium’s communication and promotional efforts, the billboard will be located on the southern exterior of the Reg Hickey Stand.
It aims to target both pedestrians and northbound traffic on Moorabool Street, displaying a mix of operational, promotional, and commercial messages from the Trust and its key stakeholders.
Planning documents submitted to the City of Greater Geelong estimate the cost of the development at $300,000.
“The electronic sign is proposed to be installed on the south east facade of a circular concourse building which provides internal access to the Reg Hickey Stand,” the planning document states.
“This is located on the east side of the property adjacent Moorabool Street.
“The proposed advertising display will complement the generally white facade of the Reg Hickey stand and be more attractive than the drab concrete structure that currently exists.”
The introduction of a digital billboard is part of the stadium’s ongoing strategy to integrate advanced technology for better engagement with fans and to offer heightened exposure for partners.
By choosing a location facing Moorabool Stret, the Trust aims to ensure the billboard’s high visibility, further cementing Kardinia Park’s status as a key feature of Geelong’s urban fabric.
