Landy Field closed for repairs
GEELONG’s John Landy Athletics Field has remained closed this week as track repairs are carried out in preparations for the approaching 2023/24 athletics season.
World-renowned sports surface manufacturer Polyton has been on site to carry out the routine repairs, which are due to be completed next week.
John Landy Athletics Field is a much-loved community facility and plays host to Geelong athletes of all ages, including members of Geelong Athletics, Geelong Little Athletics Centre and Geelong Masters.
City of Greater Geelong acting executive director of community service delivery Alistair Miller said the repairs were vital in ensuring the track was ready for an exciting 2023-24 season.
“We’re carrying out repairs now to have the track ready for the summer athletics season, thank you to everyone for your understanding while the works are being carried out.
“We look forward to re-opening the facility as soon as possible to support the preparations of our local athletes.”
The City’s track facilities at Goldsworthy Road, Corio have been open for use during the short-term closure.
