THE search is on of standout shots of Geelong, as entries open for the city’s annual Geelong Calendar photographic competition.

This year’s theme “Your City, Your Eyes” encourages people of all ages and abilities to submit photos which showcase the character, beauty and unique spirit of the Greater Geelong region.

Previous entrants have produced striking images of the Geelong waterfront, hidden laneways, local wildlife and colourful community events.

Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said he looked forward to seeing how people would showcase the region.

“This competition is a fantastic way for the community to share what they love about the city.

“Every year we are amazed by the creativity and talent on display, and we can’t wait to see Geelong through the eyes of our community once again.”

Chair of the city’s arts and culture, hospitality and live entertainment portfolio, Eddy Kontelj, said you don’t need to be a professional photographer to enter.

“Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just enjoy snapping pictures on your phone, we encourage everyone to have a go.

“Your photo could be the next highlight in the Geelong Calendar, inspiring residents all year long.”

Submissions close on Tuesday, September 30.

Entries will be shortlisted, and the community will have the chance to vote on the calendar’s cover photo and monthly images.

Photos can be submitted via the City of Greater Geelong’s website.
