GEELONG, Surf Coast and Bellarine business leaders are preparing to race to the finish line as registrations for this year’s Lifeline 135 Corporate Dash open.

The high-energy event will return on Friday, May 2 as participants lace up their shoes to support Lifeline Geelong’s work in mental health and suicide prevention.

Lifeline Geelong provides essential 24/7 crisis support, with about 56 calls made from the greater Geelong area each day.

Local businesses nominate a representative to sprint, jog or shuffle 135 metres down the home straight of the Geelong Racecourse.

Representatives are also challenged with the task of raising a minimum $1,500 through personal fundraising pages, with the support of Lifeline.

Geelong Chamber of Commerce chair Renee Jovic said the event is more than a race; it is a community challenge.

“We all know someone touched by the tragedy of suicide, and every dollar raised through the 135 Corporate Dash helps Lifeline continue their life-saving work,” she said.

“We’re asking our local businesses, big and small, to get behind this important cause.

“Every metre raced is a step towards hope and healing for those who need it most.”The 135 Corporate Dash is named after the 135 people impacted by every life lost to suicide and has been well supported by the local community in previous years.

Last year’s event received welcomed participants from a wide range of sectors including IT, finance, human resources, trades and more.

Melbourne Video Agency founder Joel Neale, who won the 135 Corporate Dash in 2024, said it is a great way to bring people together to support an important cause.

“We can all help in raising awareness around the struggles of mental health and ensuring people get the help they need.”

“It’s easy for everyone to get involved in some way to help our community.”
