Aussie guitar legend Matthew Fagan will perform at Qdos Fine Arts next Saturday alongside flamenco dancer Laura Uhe.

Experience the romance and passion of Spain with 10-string guitarist Matthew Fagan and flamenco dancer Laura Uhe when they perform at Qdos Fine Arts Lorne next Saturday.

Having toured with Billy Connolly, The Buena Vista Social Club, Shirley Bassey, Michael Crawford and Natalie Cole, Fagan has established himself as one of Australia’s finest guitarists.

In their show Espana El Vito – The Spirit of Spain, Fagan will deliver exhilarating Spanish flamenco guitar through techniques used by Paco De Lucia and Paco Pena.

He has also taken inspiration from the concert masterpieces of composers Isaac Albeniz, Joaquin Rodrigo and Georges Bizet to piece together stunning new arrangements.

“Matthew is the best artist that I have toured with” – Billy Connolly

“Matthew has a Latin soul and we love his playing so much that we want to take him back home to Cuba” – Ibrahim Ferrer, The Original Buena Vista Social Club

“A true artist” – Paco Peña

Sought after nationally as a performer and teacher of flamenco dance, Laura Uhe has worked professionally as a flamenco dancer, choreographer and teacher for more than 20 years.

She has appeared in several theatre productions, including Carmen in both Melbourne and Asia in 2009 and 2010 respectively. She was also the production’s dance captain in 2014.

Her performance highlights include the Melbourne Festival of the Arts, Arts Centre Melbourne’s Latin Concert Series, Brunswick Music Festival, Port Fairy Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Sydney Carnivale, La Casa De Bernarda Alba at the Malthouse Theatre, and Suena Flamenca – a collaboration with flamenco artists from Sydney, Melbourne and Spain.
