Man arrested over suspected fraud targeting genU
VICTORIA Police arrested a man today (Thursday, August 1) as part of an investigation into allegations of suspected fraud targeting genU.
According to a statement released by genU earlier today, genU ran its own internal investigation triggered by suspicious activity relating to accounts being wrongfully charged to the not-for-profit organisation, and notified police in February 2023.
The period of suspected fraudulent activity is believed to have occurred over five years.
“We remain strong and have incredible employees across Australia who continue to provide high-quality services and demonstrate unwavering commitment to our clients, their families and carers, and to our purpose to enrich the lives of others,” genU chief executive officer Clare Amies said.
“This has not and will not impact our day-to-day service delivery or the way we conduct our business.
“I am pleased the investigation is progressing, and we will continue to work with Victoria Police to ensure justice is served.”
